In home care and NDIS
If you or your child has a disability, you might be able to receive support from the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federal scheme that provides support for adults and children with disabilities, as well as their families and carers. It offers a number of support services, including:
- Information and referral services
The NDIS enables you to access a wide range of information and referral services in one place. This makes it far quicker and easier for you to find information about the various support options available to you in your area, including diagnosis advice, skills development and peer support. It can also refer you to relevant disability support groups and initiatives, crisis intervention and community services. This can help to reduce the social isolation sometimes experienced by people with disabilities and their carers. - Individual support services
If you participate in the NDIS, you may also receive an individual care and support plan tailored to your needs. This can include care and assistance for the person with the disability, opportunities for socialising, and support for carers.
