Educator Responsibilities
The Educator will provide Education and Care and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the early learning program. The Educator should consider the Family Management Plan in preparing the early learning program.
Educator Compliance
All Educators providing In Home Care must meet a set of guidelines set by the Commonwealth Department of Education.
IHC Handbook and Guidelines
The In Home Care National guidelines have been developed to provide clear and consistent information about the service type and requirements underpinning the service offering.
The IHC Handbook outlines the operational policy for the IHC Program delivered through a network of IHC Support Agencies.
Programming and Play
As part of being an In Home Care (IHC) Educator you will be responsible for providing an early learning program for the children within your care, this should be in conjunction with the Family Management Plan (FMP) provided by the In Home Care Support Agency (IHCSA) to the Service Provider.
Safety
In Home Care is designed to support the provision of early childhood education and care in the home.
It is a condition of approval that an IHC Service only provides care in a safe home environment.
Families will be asked to take steps to ensure the physical environment is safe for the child/children and the IHC Educator.
Health
Health and Wellbeing are essential for quality of life and are fundamental preconditions for learning and development. Active participation and engagement in learning, a positive experience of education or training and an informed awareness of health are crucial to long term health and wellbeing.
Medical Conditions
IHC supports the provision of early childhood education and care in the home, including those with complex and challenging needs. The In Home Care Support Agency recognises that some children come with additional needs that need to be accommodated.

Family Resources and Responsibilities
When applying for In Home Care (IHC), the family is required to provide information regarding their situation, along with evidence to support their eligibility for the program and to assist with the preparation of the Family Management Plan.
